To reduce CO2 emissions our approach focuses on three sectors: industry, built environment and traffic and transport. The Rotterdam petrochemical and energy cluster is extremely important for the economy of both Rotterdam and the Netherlands as a whole. At the same time, these activities are CO2-intensive and contribute significantly to the total CO2 emissions in the Netherlands. This makes them vulnerable to price increases and stricter restrictions on CO2.
