Rotterdam is a leader in the Netherlands in its sustainability policy. The ambitions are high and much has been achieved since the start of this collegium in 2010. "This is not easy and we cannot do it alone”, according to Alexandra van Huffelen, Vice Mayor Sustainability, City Center and Public Spaces. The Second Rotterdam Sustainability Dinner, entitled "The Next Step," was attended by over 100 top executives from NGOs, port companies, industry and construction. Rotterdam wants to go further: "In Rotterdam we tackle things together. And we do this for a sustainable city and port, because it offers economic opportunities and because it creates jobs, "said Van Huffelen.

Since then awareness has risen about the urgency and importance of cooperation among deltas to act. As more knowledge is gained, climate adaptation strategies have been developed and measures taken.
