On 29 September, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, will perform the opening ceremony of the international ‘Deltas in Times of Climate Change’ conference in Rotterdam. The Prince is deeply committed to the subject of water management, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
In the Netherlands, the Prince of Orange is Chairman of the Water Advisory Committee. In his capacity as Chairman of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation, he makes a personal contribution to the solution of water-related problems all over the world. In addition, the Prince is closely involved in spatial planning, a logical extension of his work in the field of integrated water management in the Netherlands.
The conference will address measures that delta cities can and should take in order to prepare themselves for the consequences of climate change. The objective of the conference is to ensure that cities will seize this necessity as an opportunity for economic development and to forge deeper alliances.
